PERSONAL FUN FACT: I despised this hideous clown getup when I was a kid. Most of the time, I tended to naturally gravitate towards Kelly dolls that were sold in impractical, and at times homely outfits. I don't think I played with the outfit itself one time. I do however recall that I enjoyed these mustache glasses. They were a fun addition to my Kelly dolls' dress up box, that I kept in their bedroom. I let Colleen use Belinda's shoes, since they are oversized. I believe this shoe mold was originally made for Skipper, so they worked perfectly for Colleen's purposes. What I don't understand is why Belinda wasn't given a pair of oversized Kelly shoes in the first place? These will not stay on her feet--they were sold with elastics securing them on. Personally I think that was a bit cheap on Mattel's part...I get that clowns wear huge shoes, but these literally won't stay on Belinda's feet for half a second.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I can't remember if Clown or Birthday Belinda was the first in my collection. I do recall that I got both girls around the same time in 2003. Belinda was a character that I previously had no experience with--I think she might have debuted around the time that Colleen was starting to phase out of Kelly dolls. I loved collecting different Kelly characters in 2002/2003, when my Kelly collection blossomed. My favorite part about this doll in particular was the fact that she had such a basic look. I hated her outfit, and never ever played with it. When Dad purchased me this Belinda, I solely wanted her for the doll herself. As an adult, I think she looks like a toddler Avril Lavigne--that's how I think of her these days. If I had made said connection as a kid, I probably would have named this doll Avril. I recall playing with her on and off, more so than my Birthday Belinda. I liked how she had a bit of a tomboyish vibe--it made her a ton of fun to dress. I think that I got Belinda from Target...but I really can't be sure!
