Port Augusta Paparazzi (2025)

Patrons waiting to board Pichi Richi Railway's narrow gauge Afghan Express in Port Augusta for their journey to Quorn are momentarily distracted by the passing of a Pacific National intermodal train on Saturday May 3, 2025.

6MP4 with NR10-NR118 pass the line of "paparazzi" as it heads west to Perth via the station "bypass" designed to accommodate double-stack containers and hi-cube vehicles under the town's bridges.

Fitzgerald Bridge, Aberdeen, NSW, 1893

This iron lattice road bridge over the Hunter River at Aberdeen (11 km north of Muswellbrook) was built 1891-93 by O. M’Master, and designed by John Alexander McDonald.

It was re-decked in 1937 by A. Goninan and Charles Hardy Contracting Co. Ltd. After the opening of the adjacent new concrete bridge in 2014 the old one was closed to motorists and reused as a foot-bridge.

ELs stormin' with Trailerail (1997)

The first two ELs, EL51-EL52, doing what they were designed and built to do: run premium passenger and freight services at the fastest permitted truck speeds. Seen here running a Trailerail MP7 service to Perth ahead of a big storm at Port Germein, SA. Built by A. Goninan & Co, the GE C30-8 locomotives were originally geared for 140kph running though this was later reduced for a maximum of 125kph. June 14, 1997
