Things you can do with an out-of-focus shot; run it through Topaz Studio software to give it an impressionistic look for one. I started out in art school (the now defunct but once prestigious Cleveland School of Art), studying painting but soon switched to photography; spent the next 50 years as a documentary and news photographer, both in civilian life and in the United States Navy, but every once in a while, the old artist crops up. Especially in salvaging something out of nothing. The shot, converted to black and white in post-production, reminded me a little of those gritty Tri-X photos from the old film days but alas, digital, sweet as it is, comes out to perfect and clean, and the artificial turf today just isn't the mud and grit you used to see when the old Cleveland Browns and the Green Bay Packers clashed. Friday night's game, played on a groomed emerald green carpet, produced no grass stains, bloody noses nor battered bodies. Not even rain or bad weather. I tried though.
