Eagle MAX...

For Canada, one of the biggest markets is traffic between itself and their southerly neighbour, the United States; American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines all have a major presence, either operating flights themselves or via their regional subsidiaries.
American Airlines was one of the earliest customers for the Boeing 737 MAX, and were the first North American to take delivery of the type by mid-2017. The creation of the Boeing 737 MAX can be thanks to American Airlines, who ordered 460 narrow-body jet back in mid-2011 with Airbus being the big winner. American Airlines did give a condition that on top of the 100 Boeing 737-800s they would order, an additional order for 100 Boeing 737 would be considered if Boeing pursued the re-engine programme.
Boeing of course this pursue the programme and by early-2013, American Airlines placed an order for 130 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. Over 10 years later, American Airlines placed further orders in early-2024, 30 of the existing Boeing 737 MAX 8 order went over to the larger Boeing 737 MAX 10 and in total have 115 of the type on-order, with American Airlines to take on only 100 Boeing 737 MAX 8s.
Currently, American Airlines operates 378 Boeing 737s, which includes 303 Boeing 737-800s and 75 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. American Airlines have 25 Boeing 737 MAX 8s and 115 Boeing 737 MAX 10s on-order.

Eagle Early Morning Lift-Off...

Despite American Airlines operating the largest Airbus A320 family fleet anywhere in the world, the carrier also operates a considerably large Boeing 737 fleet with over 300 Boeing 737-800s in service with their Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet now hitting 50 examples with a further 80 on the order book.
Like Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines in the late-1990s, American Airlines was an exclusive Boeing customer and no surprise they were an early customer for the Boeing 737-800, taking delivery of their first example in 1999 with an initial batch of 78 examples ordered for delivery between 1999 to 2001. The introduction of the Boeing 737-800, the continued influx of Boeing 757-200s along with acquiring TWA's McDonnell Douglas MD-80s in 2001 allowed American Airlines to retire their last remaining Boeing 727s by 2002.
In the intervening years, American Airlines would operate one of the largest Boeing 737 fleets anywhere in the world where they are currently 4th behind Southwest Airlines, Ryanair Group and United Airlines operating larger fleets. American Airlines was one of the main airlines that enabled Boeing to design the now current-generation Boeing 737 MAX which they were a launch customer.
American Airlines utilise their Boeing 737s across all of their major hubs, and were amongst the earliest type to have been inaugurated into post-merger US Airways hubs.
Currently, American Airlines operates 353 Boeing 737s, which includes 303 Boeing 737-800s and 50 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. American Airlines have 80 Boeing 737 MAX 8s on-order.

AirCal Eagle...

A primary reason to visit the United States, notably Los Angeles is the impressive amount of domestic flights that operate every single day, the flights ranging from smaller regional flights to more populous hub-to-hub services. All 3 major US carriers operate a hub-and-spoke model within Los Angeles and the demand provided by flights is nothing short of impressive.
American Airlines operates one of the most comprehensive domestic networks alongside fellow US3 carriers, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. The expansion of their domestic network is not only from continued growth within the airline, but also acquiring a number of smaller and/or larger airlines across the United States.
During the repaint process by American Airlines following their merger with US Airways back in 2013, the airline undertook the process to introduce various heritage paint schemes, something that was inherited from US Airways who already had a good amount of aircraft wearing such colours prior to the merger who acquired a number of airlines themselves... American Airlines carried on the tradition by repainting a select number of Boeing 737-800s denoting the airlines that American subsequently acquired in their history.
One such airline that American acquired back in 1987 was the regional carrier, AirCal who were previously founded as Air California back in 1967. The airline primarily operated flights within the state of California, and following airline deregulation act expanded further afield. The airline subsequently went bankrupt in 1987 with American Airlines purchasing the airline. In tribute to the airline, American Airlines repainted N917NN in AirCal's last livery dating between 1981 to 1987.
Currently, American Airlines operates 345 Boeing 737s, which includes 303 Boeing 737-800s and 42 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. American Airlines have 88 Boeing 737 MAX 8s on-order.
