The Arc of Appalachia owns the 138 acre preserve in Adams County Ohio. There are two separate prairies, the tall grass and the cedar glade. These types of prairies have been all but eliminated in Ohio. One theory of why these prairies survived is that the railroad that bisects the preserve used to burn brush growing on or near it's tracts. When these fires got out of control they cleared the prairies. The tall grass and red cedar survived the fires. Two loop trails totaling 2.5 miles go through the preserve. To the north the trail traverses Plum Run with its creek and limestone cliffs. Good hike but too early for wildflowers.
