While photographing this narrow passage in Antelope Canyon, I wanted to capture the dance between shadow and light that reveals the millennia-old rock texture. I positioned myself so that the composition naturally guides the eye through the sinuous curves of the canyon, creating a sense of discovery and mystery. I chose a moment when indirect light softened the reddish tones of the sandstone while preserving the depth of the shadows. The vertical framing reinforces the impression of immensity and narrowness characteristic of slot canyons, while the lighter ground in the foreground anchors the composition and invites exploration.
