mehrere tausend Menschen protestierten mit einer
Kundgebung in der Mühlenstraße gegen den Teilabriss einiger Mauersegmente der East Side Gallery.
Auf dem ehemaligen Todesstreifen hinter der East Side Gallery ist der Bau eines 14-geschossigen, 63 Meter hohen Luxusappartment-Hochhauses, des Living Levels geplant. Der Abriss macht Platz für 45 Luxuseigentumswohnungen. Die Mauerstücke müssen aber auch weichen, weil an dieser Stelle die noch zu bauende Brommybrücke an die Mühlenstraße angeschlossen werden soll.
Die East Side Gallery ist eine alte Hinterlandmauer auf der ehemals Ostberliner Seite der Spree. Sie ist 1990 von Künstlern bemalt worden und steht seit 1991 unter Denkmalschutz. 2009 wurde die Gallery saniert, die Bemalung größtenteils erneuert.

Berlin Fotomarathon 2010 - the theme for this shot comes from a statement by the gay former mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit - Berlin is poor, but sexy. I found these two lovers at the Berlin Gay Pride Parade, held that very day.
