This small pier and its solitary lightpost caught my attention, so I planted my tripod in the cold beach sand by the waterline and started snapping away.
Suddenly, a person appeared from the right. I was doing twenty-second exposures at the time and didn't have time to adjust my camera settings – at those exposure times, walking people disappear from photos completely.
The person walked past my scene and stopped at the end of the pier. As I changed my settings (I figured a one-second exposure would yield interesting results), they just stood there in the vast darkness, perhaps contemplating existence and the universe, or perhaps having a smoke. I almost thought they were gone, vanished into the blackness, or maybe my mind was playing tricks on me and they were never there in the first place. Then I noticed movement, walking. It was no man! It was an abhorrent beast, a foul being risen from the icy Baltic Sea, had three legs but no face... Alrigh, alright, it was a man (you can tell by the Adidas sneakers), but you have to admit it's a mysterious shot nonetheless.
