Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees
Time can break your heart, have you begging please
Begging please

Beyond the door, there's peace, I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven

Adelina Falls, at Lawson, in The Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia. This was my first time here, and I loved it. A beautiful, serene spot, but quite hard to photograph.

This was my favourite. A nice dark and moody image.

Hope you like "Tears In Heaven"

Headed into Kirribilli yesterday arvo to shoot sunset and Vivid. Sunset was nice, Vivid was extremely underwhelming, at least from that side of the harbour.
Hung around till 7:30pm, packed up and got back on the homebound train.

On a positive, I had never shot this popular composition before, so it was nice to get this in the bag, about 20mins after sunset.

The car taillights gave a nice foreground filler, for this iconic scene. Very happy with this one.

House Of The Rising Sun by Emerald Imaging Photography

House Of The Rising Sun

House Of The Rising Sun
The Animals

There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
And it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
Dear God, I know I was one

My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
And my father was a gamblin' man
Way down in New Orleans

And the only thing a gambler needs
Is a suitcase and a trunk
And the only time he's satisfied
Is when he's a drunk

Oh, mother, tell your children
Not to do what I have done
To spend your lives in sin and misery
In the house of the rising sun

Love this old Sunday School, out at Brownlow Hill, in South West Sydney. Always a dramatic scene to shoot, in any season.

Hope you like "House Of The Rising Sun"

The Dawning Of The Day by Emerald Imaging Photography

The Dawning Of The Day

This morning early I walked on
While my darling was in a dream
The last sweet days of summer bloomed
And dressed the trees in green
Then soaring high in the gleaming sky
From far across the bay
Came a fearsome roar from a distant shore
At the dawning of the day

Then I called my men to follow me
Knowing well that the view was dim
Though tired and worn, how they fought all morn'
As time was closing in
And my heart was sad though sore with pride
For brave lads all were they
As the angels fly, how they climbed so high
On the dawning of the day

A fantastic fog filled morning out in Camden NSW last Saturday morning. I absolutely love this time of the year in Australia.

Hope you like "The Dawning Of The Day"
cheers, Mike

Pictures Of You

Pictures Of You
The Last Goodnight

This is the clock upon the wall
This is the story of us all
This is the first sound of a newborn child,
Before he starts to crawl

This is the war that's never won
This is a soldier and his gun
This is the mother waiting by the phone,
Praying for her son

Pictures of you, pictures of me
Hung upon your wall for the world to see
Pictures of you, pictures of me
Remind us all of what we used to be

Pictures of You. Fourteen photos of the same tree, stacked / layered on top of each other.

The technique here is to walk around the subject taking photos of it a meter or so apart, then stacking them and blending them to give the final image.

The idea is to be able to recognize what you are looking at, whilst looking at it in an abstract way. I’m going to be doing a bit more of this in the future, as it’s a nice challenge, and fun to do.

Hope you like "Pictures Of You"

Southern emu wrens

Southern emu wren pair. Last time I got a photo of one of these beauties was about 15 years ago. Out today and looks like I spotted a pair, they were pretty far off so these are heavily cropped. But considering that and that they are hand held, I am pretty happy

Check yourself into the river
Check yourself into a dream
Check yourself into a hellhole
Where nobody else has been

Check yourself into a freefall
Hide away behind the scene
Check yourself into a nightmare
Where no one can hear you scream

Passerby, pass me by to love you still
To love you still, to love you
Passerby, pass me by to love you still
To love you still, to love you

I shot this scene yesterday, but have waited exactly one year to the weekend, to do this.
A year ago, we were on our way home to Sydney, after a few days in Griffith, cotton chasing, and I happened to drive past this road, right on sunset. It was one of the most amazing sunsets I had ever seen, and these trees were just glowing in it.
as I was on a highway and couldnt stop, I made note of the next side road I passed, and when I got home I backtracked from that road on Google maps to have a look at it.
I passed it again in early October, and I took the opportunity this time to stop and check it out. I loved what I saw, and pretty much imagined what it would look like in Autumn.
So, one year from my passerby glimpse, I returned, and got this image. Its a six shot vertical pano, shot at 14mm to get that sky in. We were standing with tripods, outside the gate as it was private property.

Very happy, and a year well planned.

Dead Inside

Muse

You're free to touch the sky
Whilst I am crushed and pulverised
Because you need control
Now I'm the one who's letting go

You like to give an inch
Whilst I am giving infinity
But now I've got nothing left
You have no cares and I'm bereft

Your skin feels warm to caress
I see magic in your eyes
On the outside you're ablaze and alive
But you're dead inside!

Shot at Cobbity, NSW, Australia, on a glorious fog filled morning. I like the colour version of this too, but the B&W version gives me that eerie feeling I was looking to portray here.

Hope you like "Dead Inside"

Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves
Nat King Cole

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

The first shot of the morning, from our foggy autumnal chase around south western Sydney. This is a six shot pano taken about fifteen minutes before sunrise.

Red Light Avenue

Red Light Avenue

Looking out upon this endless day
Just got better now I must get well
Sometimes I think I'll never see
A whole wide world in front of me
There's always one more soul to sell

Another night lays its hands on me
Don't remember how it used to be
It's not forever but it feels just like the end

And another day is turning blue
Down on Red Light Avenue

A great mid week morning out at Coalcliff, on top of the Seacliff Bridge. I had been wanting to try this shot of car light trails around sunrise for a long time, so when the weather gods promised a good sunrise, I grabbed my chance at getting it.
