I had to pick up some paint today and found out we are skipping August.

Not that I’m trying to wish away summer but hurry up Autumn - I’m craving those crisp leaves underfoot, warm rust and gold tones in the trees, and evenings spent by an open fire, drinking wine, wrapped in soft blankets and full of comfort food.
Inspired by that very mood, I created this open-air hideaway. It’s perfect for a dreamy date night or even a permanent addition to your garden space. Bedrooms can stay indoors - this is all about feeling the breeze through the trees while staying curled up and cosy outside.
For this scene, I used the KraftWork Gazebo as the foundation, tweaking it slightly to create a more intimate feel by closing off parts of the open space. I extended the flooring and bordered the scene with Dust Bunny’s log fencing for that tidy, natural edge.
The heart of the space is the beautifully detailed CHEZ MOI bedroom set - rich tones and plush textures that invite you in. Paired with the versatile Noveny table and chairs (those cream cushions absolutely pop against the warm palette), these two sets just belong together.

A long weekend checking out waterfalls in Ricketts Glen State Park, Pennsylvania, Watkins Glen State Park, New York State, Niagara Falls on the US and Canadian side and finally Letchworth State Park, New York.
We stayed at the Glen Iris Inn, built as the home of William Pryor Letchworth, from whom the park is named after.

A little Cairn looking in a puddle at the reflection of himself.
Prompt: A heartwarming, high-resolution digital fine art of a tan Cairn Terrier with large, expressive eyes, dark hair around the nose and mouth, sitting quietly beside a shallow puddle on a soft, natural surface (like a grassy path or a stone trail). The Cairn stares thoughtfully into the puddle, its posture relaxed, ears perked slightly forward, and eyes filled with quiet curiosity and reflection.
In the puddle’s calm, mirror-like surface, a perfectly clear reflection of the Cairn stares back — a true mirror image, matching its pose and stare exactly. The reflection is crisp and undistorted, capturing every fine detail of the dog’s features.
The lighting is soft and diffused, with hues of early morning — soft pinks, pale blues, and gentle golds — casting a serene glow across the scene. Subtle glimmers of light dance on the water’s surface. Surrounding elements, such as a few scattered autumn leaves or delicate grass tufts, add to the tranquil ambiance.

Mount Toby State Forest is a great place to escape into wilderness among a network of quiet woodland trails close to the town of Sunderland and the Connecticut River.
It's also a great place to explore the Sunderland Fire Tower and the Sunderland Caves.
The north end of the roundhouse has a proper brick facade with more intentionality than the rough-edged bite taken out of the middle of the structure. To the left among the fall leaves you can make out the turntable. There are no tracks in place between the long out of service turntable and the roundhouse. The only rails leading up to the turntable are the ones the old open end observation car is sitting on. The bins, grain legs, and conveyors of the Nexus terminal loom over the old roundhouse.

My first destination on this morning was Manley, IA. It had been numerous trips to Iowa City yet I hadn't gotten a chance to get a good look at the Iowa Northern. I knew they were on seriously short time with an impending buyout by Canadian National. I decided to "sweep" the line from Manley south. From what I had gathered moves on the north end happened at night but I wanted to see the route for myself even if nothing turned a wheel.
A mini elevator row lines the west side of the tracks at Manley. In the foreground we see the switch where Iowa Northern trains get on the UP spine line ever so briefly to cross over to their own mainline headed south, at a second switch right on the other side of Main St. There had once been a Chicago Great Western line through Manley as well (Austin, MN - Mason City). After the C&NW took over the CGW and the track from Manley to Mason City was abandoned a segment was made into a siding off the adjacent Spine Line (Rock Island). The signal for the north end of the siding can be seen around the curve. October 18, 2024.
