While walking the Bailly Chellberg - Little Calumet Loop with a view looking to the north and across a grassy meadow in a historic farm in Indiana Dunes National Park. My thinking in composing this image was to manipulate the swivel LCD screen on my Nikon D850 and use that to capture a sweeping view across this meadow. By swiveling the LCD screen and using LiveView to compose and focus the image, I could also avoid having to bend down.

In Indiana Dunes National Park while walking through a forested setting. This was along the Bailly Chellberg - Little Calumet Loop with a view looking to the north. My thinking in composing this image was to use the hiking trail to my front as a leading line into the wooded setting and image. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 4 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

While walking the Bailly Chellberg - Little Calumet Loop with a view looking to the south across a grassy meadow to the historic Bailly Homestead. In composing this image, I went back-and-forth in my mind as to angling my Nikon SLR camera. Here I decided to angle it more leveled on and have a balanced focus with the meadow and surrounding trees. While the overcast skies were in my mind kind of a negative space, here they kind of helped to balance the image and national park setting. Kind of a color contrast, if you will. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 4 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning in Indiana Dunes National Park. This was along the Bailly Chellberg - Little Calumet Loop on an overcast day, with off and on drizzle of rain. To compose this image, I'll set up my Nikon SLR camera on a tripod while holding a remote in my hand as I walked down a trail.
