North End Power Station

Today the Lincoln Wharf Condominiums, the handsome structure on the North End's Commercial Street was once the Lincoln Power Station, a 1901 coal fired electric power plant built on the old Lincoln Wharf, responsible for providing power to the then new Boston Street Railway. The plant operated into the 1970's and by 1990 it was redeveloped, marking the first adaptive re-use of a power plant into housing in the country. Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
