Neophema chrysogaster. Driving along one of the tracks there's a fwd stopped and a guy in red hi vis looking out over the shrubs. He moves his car aside and as I'm passing asks, would you like to see an obp?
After I'd recovered my composure.... got rid of the car and grabbed the camera. He was incredibly kind, quickly set up a tripod and right angled telescope to show me where it was. Combination of nerves and trying too hard, despite seeing it three times through his scope I could not locate with the camera... that brightly coloured little face popping up here and there. Eventually it flew out and across to the bank, three seconds of silhouette and it dropped down.
It transpired that he worked for Birdlife Australia... Steve Davidson.... he knew them.. that morning they'd been a group of three, and this one.."second year male". So thank you Mr Davidson.
