Female or Young Black-headed Grosbeak at Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, a lush oasis in the desert. An earthquake fault line produces a localized water source in the transition zone between the Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert on the way from Palm Springs to Joshua Tree in California. Year round weekly bird walks are led by volunteers at the preserve.
