Old House Circa 1853, Burlington, IA

My wife and I visited the historic Mississippi river town Burlington, IA this past weekend. I didn't have a lot of time but on our way out of town I shot a roll of film with my Mamiya C330 TLR. The sign on the porch of the beautiful home says Old House 1853, not sure though about the history of this grand home on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi river. There are so many beautiful things to see in Burlington and I plan to return to spend more time there photographing the sights. Captured with my Mamiya C330 TLR on JCH Streetpan 400 film, developed with D76 at 1:1.

Great River Bridge - Burlington, IA

Visiting the historic Mississippi River town Burlington, IA recently and discovered this amazing view of the Great River Bridge over the Mississippi River from the bluffs in Burlington, IA. I shot this image with my 80 plus year old Zeiss Ikon Nettor 515/2 folding camera on expired Rollei RPX 100 film. I was really pleased with how this image turned out, particularly considering that I was shooting in to the sun with an uncoated lens. This is a wonderful camera and I really enjoy exploring its capabilities.

NO FISHING

BJRY 701 shoves the afternoon interchange into BNSF's Burlington Yard on a fairly overcast 4/29/22. Aside from the general populace one might expect to find in downtown Burlington, I really do like taking pictures in this city and don't pay this area nearly enough visits each year. I can't overstate how much I love seeing the Burlington Junction Railway in its namesake town (especially because they so frequently use their ALCo C415), so another trip is already on the backburner.

Home Sweet Home

BNSF 1706, still proudly wearing BN cascade green paint, is on the point of a not-very-power-deficient BNSF H DMOGAL as it slowly rolls into Burlington, Iowa, which of course is the Burlington Northern's namesake city.

The Burlington

CB&Q 3003 sits on display at Burlington, IA. For a park locomotive with no shelter, she looks great! The skyline of Burlington makes for a nice backdrop.

Painted Green

A view from the cab of CB&Q 3003 in Burlington, IA. The entirety of the cab interior and controls appear to have been painted green. It looks odd but I bet they're preserving the components, which is probably a good decision for the long-term.

Feed Train: Eastbound Edition

BNSF 6138 leads a feed train eastbound through Burlington, IA. This train would turn around and go west on the Chilli at Cameron...
