A setting looking to the east-northeast while taking in views across eroded formations and buttes in this northern Arizona high desert landscape. This is at the Monument Valley Tribal Park Visitor Center with a view looking to West Mitten and East Mitten, from image left to right. My thought on composing this image was to symmetrically center the two formations and have a leveled-on view with the horizon, balancing the earth-tones in the lower portion of the image with the blues in the skies above.
The last rays of sunlight highlight the side of Factory Butte surrounded by the darkening landscape in Southeastern Utah.
Taken with a drone on a recent trip to Southern Utah. I have so many shots of this area it's hard to choose just one, there are so many ways to shoot this monolith, all of them leading to dramatic differences in your photos, a slightly different altitude makes for quite a different photo. Wait long enough and you will go through many different lighting scenarios, especially if you have the sunlight trying to break through the clouds around you. As the sun is going down it will first light up all the ridges around you making for some dramatic leading lines, eventually the light will leave that area but the butte in front of you will become the center of attention just before the mountains behind you block out the remainder of the light.

Butte de Vauquois - Scene of the completely destroyed village of Vauquois 1914-18. The top of that ridge is labled as red zone, even today. The village was rebuild on the southern slope of the ridge.
