Looks like the deer know the state park is a sanctuary for them. I'm surprised the mountain lions haven't gotten involved here. I volunteer in the neighboring national forest and whenever I see a deer there I shout to it to head for the state park. This was about 8 a.m. This photo was taken from inside my car on state highway California 79. This 90 degree curve in the road is just one mile south of the Cuyamaca Lake Store.

Cuyamaca Lake is divided by a dike. The west part is kept full through ground-water pumping. The eastern part is normally bone dry and only has water when it rains. This is a photo of the eastern, normally dry part, and more storms are on the way!

The white building to the left of the town hall is now a real estate office. It was once the library and a mural painted by Marshall South ("History of the World") can be seen high on the interior walls. The street is California Highways 78 (east/west) and 79 (north/south)
