I saw this waxing crescent moon at 33% illumination last night as I was putting out our recycling and compost carts for Friday morning pickup. I made this photo of the waxing crescent moon at 46% illumination when I opened our garage door a half hour before midnight to check if it was visible. I was please to find it a little higher in the sky than 22 hours earlier. I shot this handheld using my Canon Powershot SX50 set at aperture preferred, spot focus, at infinity. It greatly helps that my camera has image stabilization.
