The artificial shrubland beyond it is beauteous. Per the Clinton County online parcel viewer, it is owned by a sand and gravel mining company. Per Google Maps' terrain/relief layer, it looks like this part of the property has not been mined for its sand and gravel yet.

This confirms that the Little Maple River is not big. It probably got channelized and straightened sometime between 100 and 150 years ago, right?
I see where the former agricultural fields on the opposite riverbank are becoming shrublands. You ought to wade across the river and take a closer look.
