The Prudential Assurance Company Limited building stands at the junction between Hall Gate and Silver Street as viewed from the High Street. Hall Gate was once part of the Great North Road, later becoming the A1 road. When the A1(M) was constructed, which by-passed Doncaster it reverted back to plain old Hall Gate, an extension of Doncaster's High Street and no longer a main road through the town centre.

Edward Dennis (1847-1923) is regarded as the pioneer of picture postcards in the UK, producing his first one in 1894. ETW Dennis postcards covered very nearly every town and city in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
From 1955 the Dennis postcards began carrying new catalogue numbers: Doncaster Postcards were numbered D.17xx (Standard Size) D.17xxL (Large Continental Size) D.17xxxL (reissue or new photographs of a previous scene).
E.T.W. Dennis & Sons Ltd printworks in Scarborough closed in 2000. The rights to the photographs were bought by John Hinde who has since released a new version of selected images under the E.T.W Dennis / John Hinde name.

Today Amber and I walked from Southease to Lewes and back either side of the river. It was cold and windy although the sun did shine from time to time. It was forecast to rain in the afternoon so a fairly quick walk was called for. So birds in flight and the odd landscape I was lucky as a pair of swans circled right round me so four images from that flight .
Now just over 2 & a half years of age is Ollie my very loyal companion who is a German Shepherd dog. He is enjoying a trip around Findhorn beach along the Moray Firth in Scotland.
Today the weather was cold wet and very changeable and so I took the girls of for a walk in the nearby wood. The wind was really blowing and so everything was on the move the girls got the wind up their tales and so really roared about. Anyway just the three images of flowers and a tree.
