For many years these two ford crossings over Middle Arm and West Middle Arm Creek have needed work done on them to make access to the front of the property more easily achievable.
Driving a ride on mower and trailer across both crossing was always a bit tricky.
It was decided in late 2022 that paving with large concrete pavers was the method to be used to make the crossings easier to traverse. As its turned out it might well have been cheaper to concrete the two crossings but the potential for tree roots to lift and crack the concrete in the future ultimately led to the decision to use concrete pavers.
The edges of the pavers were secured with a concrete border and the upstream and downstream entry and exits to the fords were also concreted about 1 metre either side of each crossing.
The work on both crossings was done over a 6-week period in late 2022 and early 2023 working for just 4 hours each Monday over that period. I was fortunate to have Dave, my regular worker, assist me with the completion of these two crossings.
