Cottonwood Creek flows to White Rock Creek, which flows to the Trinity River, which flows to Trinity Bay off Galveston Bay in the Gulf of Mexico.

The overpass with the orange and yellow columns is for motorists traveling from northbound 75 to eastbound 635. Different portions of the the interchange have different colors, selected by the Texas Department of Transportation.
