As of the 2010 census, the population of Skagway was 920, however, the population doubles in the summer tourist season in order to deal with more than 900,000 visitors.
If you look down the street past the banner, you will see a cruise ship.
At this point all of the cruise visitors have returned to their ships and the ships were starting to cast off and sail away.
We had two nights and a rainy day in Skagway. Skagway deserves more time if you have it.
So much history, mostly associated with the Klondike Gold Rush.
Skagway and nearby Dyea were access points to routes to the Yukon by way of the White Pass and the Chilkoot Trail respectively.
Skagway has a wonderful museum, and it seems every building in town from the Gold Rush era has a story.
