A crisis for grape growers of Nuriootpa, Angaston and Tanunda in the early 1890s Barossa Valley was turned around with mutual benefits in an arrangement with Tolley Scott & Tolley (TST) brandy distillers.
Facing a surplus compounded by low prices and having to dump tons of grapes, the growers asked the Tolley brothers Tim and Doug, who had the TST distillery in the Adelaide suburb of Stepney, to build another one at Nuriootpa.

Bottles of liquor on a shelf at the Meijer store on Jackson Road in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As someone who lives in the eastern US, where liquor is typically only sold in liquor stores due to state and local laws, I found the concept of the sale of liquor in grocery stores to be a novel concept (grocery store sales of beer and wine are more common), though it makes a lot of sense to do.

The Clydeside distillery in Glasgow began production in 2017 and was the first active distillery in Glasgow city centre for over 100 years. The distillery is in the the Old Hydraulic Pumping station which at one time supplied power to the capstans and cranes on the now disused Yorkhill Quay. The large structure on the left is the Glasgow Tower standing at 417ft tall and holds the Guinness World Record for being the tallest fully freestanding structure in the world and being capable of rotating 360 degrees. (when it’s working)!!….The vessel in the background was the original “Queen Mary” built by Denny of Dumbarton and launched on 30th March 1933, she was rescued in 2016 from being scrapped and now under a £4million heritage reconstruction.
