I saw Dani sitting with her friend, Thomas (see my next stranger), at the 2025 Beltane Pagan Market held in Nottingham’s Sneinton Market avenues and was struck by her blue hair. Knowing that one of the shops on another avenue had similar coloured window frames I thought it would make a great background for Dani. Going over I quickly introduced my stranger project to Dani and Thomas and both agreed to be photographed for it.
A short walk brought us to my chosen setting for my photograph of Dani. After a little direction I got her positioned between the blue uprights so that her hair didn’t break into either of them and moments later I had the image I’d envisioned.
Dani is from London but had come to Nottingham to attend university where she is doing the second year of a three-year course in child nursing. Dani told me she’d like to get a job in a neonatal unit in Nottingham.
When not studying, Dani likes to read dystopian books and also enjoys doing colouring books.
The one-word Dani would use to describe herself is weird.
Dani’s guilty pleasure is spicy foods.
If I could grant Dani a wish it would be to become a Na’vi – a humanoid species from the movie Avatar as she likes their blue skin.

I met Anwen at the Beltane Pagan Market 2025 being held in Nottingham’s Sneinton Market Avenues. Anwen was one of the stall holders and after I introduced my stranger project to her and her daughter (see my next stranger) they both agreed to being photographed without giving my request a second thought.
Anwen told me her name is Welsh but she was born in Sheffield. Half her family are from Wales. Anwen had come from Sheffield to sell her goods at the Beltane market. Anwen takes her stall to a few select markets and festivals but mostly sells out of her shop Airy Fairy. You can visit online by following this link: airyfairy.org/
As there was a seat at the front of Anwen’s stall, I decided to ask her sit on it so her dark red hair would contrast with the green wall. The daylight coming in from the open front provided some beautiful illumination.
Anwen has a few hobbies, the first of which is kind of linked to her business and that is making jewellery. Anwen enjoys mudlarking, being an active member of her local drama group, and walking her dog in the Peak District.
I asked Anwen what single word she’d use to describe herself and she said tenacious.
What is Anwen’s guilty pleasure? “Picnic Bars,” she said.
If I could grant Anwen a wish what would it be? “To stop all wars,” she replied.

The 2025 Beltane Pagan Market held in Nottingham’s Sneinton Market gave me lots of opportunities to add to my stranger project. As I threaded my way through the crowded avenues, I spotted a young lady with pink and blue hair at one of the stalls. I waited for her to finish her shopping and then went over and introduced my project to her. Kerry immediately said yes to being photographed.
At the end of the avenue I met Kerry on was a brick building so I decided to use part of its wall as a background. This also put Kerry in the shade. As soon as I began taking my photographs Kerry went through a series of poses and expressions. I asked if she’d done any modelling and she told me she had in her younger years.
Kerry is from Wisbech, which is a market town in Cambridgeshire. She had come to Nottingham to visit the Beltane event.
Kerry told me she runs an animal rescue centre for all kinds of creatures.
Kerry’s main hobby is collecting retro games and toys from the 80’s and 90’s.
The one-word Kerry would use to describe herself is soulful.
Does Kerry have a guilty pleasure? “Spending money,” she told me.
If I could grant Kerry a wish what would it be for? “For my best friend Olly to be alive again,” she said.

Wandering around the many stalls at the 2025 Beltane Pagan Market in Nottingham’s Sneinton Market, my eyes were drawn to the colour of one of the seller’s hair. Wasting no time, I went over and introduced my stranger project to her and Katie agreed straight-away to me photographing her.
We moved out from under the gazebo she was selling artwork of all kinds from as it was green in colour and the bright sunlight was shinning through it giving Katie’s skin a green hue. Once we were in the open, I had no problems taking my photographs except for people walking across the background, so I just had to pause every now-and-again for them to move out of view.
Katie is an artist and her artwork is heavily influenced by nature. She produces her work on clothing, as paintings, in clay and on many other items using a variety of mediums. Katie is also training to be a tattoo artist.
I asked Katie if she had any hobbies and she said no. Having four children keeps her so busy she doesn’t have anytime for anything else.
What single word would Katie use to describe herself? “Whimsical,” was her answer.
Katie’s guilty pleasure is chocolate.
If I could grant Katie a wish what would it be? “To be a real fairy,” she said.

This was a rather interesting turn of events... First catching Lisa just as I get to the River Market District, then catching Abby as I'm leaving.
As I passed the end of a walkway, I glanced down it and was immediately drawn to the hair colour and earrings of a young lady coming towards me. I quickly stepped forwards and introduced my project to her.
We moved a few feet away from where I met Tess so I could use a wall for a background and asked her to stand by a concrete pillar. Tess was also protected from the wind by the pillar so her hair didn’t get blown around much.
Tess is from New York and had come to the UK to study in Nottingham for a short while. This was part of the course she was doing back home. Tess is studying illustration and particularly enjoys working with ink and oil paints. She doesn’t specialize in any one subject and will have a go at illustrating anything and everything. Tess hopes she’ll be employed by an illustration firm when she finishes her studies before going freelance.
Tess also draws for pleasure in her spare time but also likes going to pubs, bars and clubs with her friends. Knitting is another pastime that Tess does regularly.
I asked Tess if she prefers New York or Nottingham. Tess immediately said New York, saying it has more diversity, and is bigger and busier.
What one word would Tess use to describe herself? ‘Loud,’ she replied.
If I could grant Tess a wish what would it be? ‘To never have to think about money ever again,’ she said.

I'm so excited to share these photos! These are shots of my girlfriend, Chloe, in... Chloe cosplay 😂 It can get a bit confusing XD
But this was for a college assessment! We had to do a photoshoot on a subculture, and I decided to make my subculture cosplayers (because cosplay is something special to me and my girlfriend... and because it was easy :P).
It was ubercool! I got to do a photoshoot with my girlfriend, and plan the perfect Chloe Price shoot with her! We made a brainstorm, moodboards, and came up with shoot ideas! Sadly, most of our shoot ideas weren't possible :/ But I got to shoot in a location that was very special to me! I had discovered it in 2017, and ever since, I had wanted to do a Pricefield photoshoot there! It wasn't exactly close to me, so I hadn't visited the location for 6 years... and it changed a bit since then >.< So that's why a lot of our ideas didn't work. But we improvised and still tried to make things work! And I LOVE these photos, I think we did good ^-^
(We were also not doing good, mentally, on the day--I was incredibly anxious, and Chloe was really spacey, so we did the best to our abilities in our headspaces at the time :3)
