Making it's preservation debut, Brush Car 634 makes quite a sight wearing "Terror Tram" livery, posing in the sun at the East Anglian Transport Museum at Carlton Colville on the first day of the Blackpool Tram Weekend. The vehicle wore a very similar livery while in service in Blackpool, and was repainted at Rigby Road Depot in Blackpool before transfer to Suffolk. The destination panel, showing "Thank you Andy Bekki Jess" acknowledges the previous owners of the tram who have donated it to the Fylde Transport Trust, who have lent it to the EATM on a five year loan.
During the Blackpool Tram Weekend at the East Anglian Transport Museum, many of the museum's preserved buses were on display. ECW-bodied 1972 Bristol VR ECK 985K was new to Ribble in February 1972 before transferring to Eastern Counties in December 1985. It was joined the museum fleet in September 1996.
Eastern Counties-bodied 1964 70-seat Bristol FL Lodekka 557 BNG poses outside the East Anglia Transport Museum having just operated a round trip from the museum to Lowestoft station and back, collecting visitors for the Blackpool Tram Weekend. The Lodekkas were low height double deckers with normal seating on both decks, featuring a flat floor and no step inside the body. This vehicle is owned by the museum.
Lowestoft Corporation No 8, an AEC Regent V from 1963, pauses by St Peter's Church in Carlton Colville after failing while working the 1130 service from the East Anglian Transport Museum to pick up customers at Lowestoft station. Leyland Titan LYF 104 was dispatched to take passengers on the final few yards of their journey to the museum.
After withdrawal from service, 918 NRT was used as Basil Badger's Playbus, initially for Waveney District Council, and then for Basildon Council. Luckily it was purchased from the council by two enthusiasts, and subsequently transferred to the Lowestoft-based museum, with a return to service in 2022.
The twelve VAMBAC trams were built in 1939 by English Electric for the inland Marton route in Blackpool. Only one vehicle was preserved, with number 11 being used on the final day of service for the route in October 1962. It was initially moved to Portsmouth in connection with a plan to reopen a tram route to Hayling Island, but this didn't come to fruition, and 11 moved to the East Anglian Transport Museum at Carlton Colville, near Lowestoft. The pride of the fleet catches the winter sun on New Year's Day, being one of two trams providing rides on the short demonstration line.
1930-built London Transport tram No 1858 was withdrawn from service in July 1952 and initially purchased by a private individual and displayed at Chessington Zoo! It moved to Carlton Colville, near Lowestoft, in 1964, and is now regularly used on the short demonstration line at the East Anglian Transport Museum. It's pictured in the bright winter sun on New Year's Day.
