The Restoration Shed

Yesterday I went to the East Anglia Railway Museum at Chappel, Essex, where the local branch of Camra hold a regular beer festival. They had tables laid out in the Restoration Shed for use by the patrons. I thought this chalkboard made an interesting subject.

Painted up for its role as Thomas this is another ex-industrial loco. The coaches are wonderfully looked after, and interesting painted different colours on each side.

Thomas, Percy and Stadler

Seen at the East Anglia Railway Museum, Chappel on their Steam Gala weekend.

The museum is based in the yard and one of the platforms at Chappel and Wakes Colne station, with the NR metals providing a single track which serves the other of the original platforms. Both steam locos are ex-industrial, and seem to have very much been painted with Thomas specials in mind!

The hourly Sudbury - Marks Tey shuttle service, arriving at Chappel + Wakes Colne station. This service is now operated by the new Stadler Class 755 units, which are a Bi-mode Multiple Unit, allowing diesel or AC-electric operations.

The tracks on the right are part of the 'East Anglian Railway Museum', which retains a mainline connection to the Sudbury branch.
