Moltes cartoixes, incloent la gran mare de totes, la Grand Chartreuse, comptaven amb una part més terrenal, centrada en la producció agricola i manufactura, així com allotjament per als monjos llecs o conversos. Aquesta s'anomenava conreria en català, del terme correrie en francès.
A la de la Grande Chartreuse, hi ha actualment el museu.

The "correrie" of the Grand Chartreuse was the "lower abbey" of the charterhouse, where the lay brothers lived and mostly, worked. It was also a mix of abbey and manufacture area.
Now the museum for the Grand Chartreuse stands here.
