I arrived late to the Cluj Days Parade. The sky was overcast, and I had no clear view. I weaved through the crowd and captured the moment from within, surrounded by confetti, movement, and the pulse of the celebration. 🎉

Kerttu, photographed in Suvilahti, Helsinki during the Maailman kylässä (World Village) Festival in Spring 2025. We met during an open mic event focused on the war in Ukraine.
A platform where voices rose in solidarity, grief, hope, and resistance.
Her yellow sweater and blue raincoat, echoing the colors of the Ukrainian flag, stood out gently yet powerfully in the crowd.
Kerttu’s presence reminded me that visual language and political expression can be as simple and moving as color, smile, and willingness to stand with others.

Did you know that Summers County's own Graham House was built in 1770, only taking a very short 2 years?
With the exception of the modern wing at the rear of the cabin, the Graham House looks much as it did when it was constructed. This dwelling not only served as a home for Colonel James Graham and his family, it was also a fortress to protect from the ever-present danger of raids, more specifically Shawnee raids.
The Graham House Preservation Society will be hosting their annual Chili Dinner with live music, chili, vendors, and apple butter making Saturday, September 21st from Noon-4pm. Please join them and support this rich history of Summers County. As an added bonus, you will also get a chance to check out the Saunders One Room School while you are visiting. This room is a replica of what one room schools looked like.
