It was a very French week last week between La Femme on Tues, Yann Tiersen Wed. and a friend from Paris staying with me this past weekend. I guess I got a little nostalgic. I currently live in the biggest Pride area of Chicago North Halsted (formerly Boystown) and the parade will be a half a block from my home. What is unfortunate is that the parades in the U.S. have been leaning towards a more corporate presence vs. individuals claiming their space and also still both celebrating and protesting simultaneously. We've really backslid in some of the states in America these past few months, Florida especially where you can't even "say gay" now but also in terms of rights for trans humans. Oddly, the same corporations who have supported anti-gay legislation and politicians (Toyota and AT&T for example) are trying to sponsor Pride festivities here. So, they want their customers to give them their money but not to actually thrive as humans, basically.
