Manistique MI Firehouse

Located at 281 First Street this beautiful station is still in use today. The firehouse opened in the spring of 1889 and the exterior has only had minimal alterations from its' original appearance.

From what I can see the apparatus show, from left to right, is: a hose wagon, city service ladder truck, steam fire engine and a chemical wagon.

On the far left of the photo you can see just a bit of an automobile. The card was mailed to 776 Prospect Ave. Bronx, NY on August 19, 1913. I would think that this photo was recent to that date.

"Controversial satellite fire station takes shape in Peabody. Taking shape is this fire station being built at junction of Prospect and Lowell Street which will house two units. It was originally held up because the early design not meet specifications. Corrected it now is the station above and will be ready for occupancy by thanksgiving holiday"

Fire Station

The modern fire station at the busy Tollcross area in central Edinburgh, in spring light and shadows. As you can imagine, this is an area that hears a lot of sirens!

Just across the road from the front of it is a large mural on the pavement honouring the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
