Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Many of the advancements in aviation have taken more than a fair bit of inspiration from Nature. The shape of a B2 bomber is not just made to fool radar, it's also very low on drag and looks an awful lot like our aerodynamic Caspian friend, or a diving Peregrin Falcon in profile. The wing of a modern airliner is also partly modelled after our avian friends. If you pay close attention to our friend above, you'll notice his wingtips are curved upwards, which increases lift and the overall efficiency of the wing.
A diverse gathering of water birds, including cormorants, a great blue heron, and a bald eagle, perches along a fallen tree at dawn. The mist rising from the water adds an ethereal feel to the scene, emphasizing the delicate balance of predator and prey. Taken at Jordan Lake Dam in Moncure, North Carolina, this moment showcases the rich biodiversity of this wetland habitat.
