20107 and 20096 storm through Paisley Gilmour Street with the 3rd leg of the Inter City Ayrliner rail tour to Stranraer from Crewe and return. This leg was from Girvan to Carlisle via Paisley, Rutherglen, Mossend and South over Beattock summit. The tour was load 8 with 47828 on the rear.
The station at Gilmour street is stunning but the light was fading fast which presented some challenging photographic conditions, those being how to balance the low light with the need for a high shutter speed to stop the train and make it sharp. I opted for the layered approach with a low shutter speed for the base shot and a high shutter speed for the train shot which would later be blended in the virtual edit suite. In the end I managed to use just the one frame. The lighting was delicious combined with the fascinating architecture and the awesome pair of Class 20s.
