6N87 Lynemouth Power Stn (Gbrf) to Tyne Coal Terminal Gbrf. One of the last few remaining MGR (merry go round) circuits that still remain active since the death of the coal power station. Class 60 in GBRF livery seen here heading back to Tyne Coal Terminal with a rake of empty Biomass hoppers. Every week, over 30,000 tonnes of sustainably-sourced wood pellets are transported from the Port of Tyne to Lynemouth Power Station via the railway. The biomass travels a short way up the East Coast Main Line from Newcastle, before using the Ashington, Blyth and Tyne lines and heading onto the facility.
