It was a beautiful, crisp, cool Fall afternoon. I was hiking in the Shenandoah National Park near Skyland Stables, going for the Stony Man Summit. As I neared the summit, I heard faint sound of bagpipe !!! I could not figure out where the sound was coming from...
After few minutes I reached the summit, came out of the wooded area and approached the rocky edge of the summit, away from the trees.
Lo and Behold!!! The view was horizon to horizon to the West, Sun was low in the horizon, the Blue Ridges were really Blue and a Bagpiper (!!!!!!) was playing Bagpipe solo, at the summit's edge!
Aha, so that's where the sound of Bagpipe was coming from!!!
It all came together in such a beautiful, surreal way! The sight and the sound together with the sweet Fall weather atop beautiful Shenandoah Blue Ridge Mountains!
The melancholy sound of Bagpipe which I always loved since I was a little kid. I heard it in Graduation Parades in the Military/Police Academies and at other festive and sometimes somber occasions.
As the sun was lowering in the horizon, Bagpiper finished off by playing "Amazing Grace" and "God Bless America".
Besides the playing Bagpiper, us four souls present there simply sat there awed, motionless, mesmerized, teary eyed, on the surrounding rocks at the summit, engrossed in the beauty of the sight and the sound, enveloped by the wonderful spiritual beauty of it all!
As we thanked the Bagpiper afterwards, I found out that he was a member of Baltimore Fire Department and the lady sitting next to me on the rocks, watching him play, was his wife!
Video coming soon!
What an experience it was! Simply divine!

With the Election over, and with an obvious winner, my thoughts have been turning back to a time before I was born!
As history remembers another great Democrat Franklin D. Rosevelt and his policies which pulled the Nation back from the Depression which had gripped the Nation. The WPA was brought to a close and there was New Hope Throughout the land.
Will this newly Elected President Barack Obama, be able to turn this current economic mess around, and return America to the Hallowed place we once occupied in all the worlds hearts and minds as the forefront for Equal Rights for all, and undo all the detrimental trends and policies left over from the current and both parties past Administrations?
This Flickrer thinks he will be able to do it! We think He's got the right mindset, but will both parties work with him, in true bipartisanship? I Am, Always the Optimist ;>) ~Chuckles~!
