April 1997, Nellis AFB
Seen in happier times at the Golden Air Tattoo at Nellis AFB in April 1997, B-17G Flying Fortress 44-83575 represented 42-31909 "Nine-O-Nine" of the 91st Bomb Group based at RAF Bassingbourne in England from 1944 to 1945. The aircraft was operated by the Collings Foundation of Stowe, MA. Tragically, "Nine-O-Nine" crashed at Bradley IAP, CT on 2 October 2019, killing seven of the thirteen passengers and crew on board.
