A green sweat bee visiting purple prairie clover which is a wildflower. I love the metallic green sheen of this tiny pollinator.

These are beautiful sparkly native bees. Always catch my eye when the sun hits them. They seem to really like yellow flowers which go well with their iridescent green. Tiny jewels.

I wish I'd realized the full story here when I took this photograph. First, a real first, it's a green sweat bee in one of my poppies. Second, it's entangled in a web and the spider is still at work. When I photographed it, I didn't see the spider - I just thought "rats, the beautiful little bee had died in a web" and went on with my search for a fresher subject. Rats.
