The views of Austin from our condo are constantly evolving as new high-rises are erected throughout the downtown area, so I've gotten in the habit of taking photos of our ever-morphing panoramas to show the changes over time. I took this west-facing shot from our balcony (unit 2010 in the 360 Condominiums building) on February 29, 2016. You can see how the landscape has changed if you compare this pic against a 2008 photo from when we first moved into the building.
To the left is the new Seaholm Residences condo tower, which was constructed on the grounds of the former Seaholm Power Plant. (You can see part of Austin Energy's Seaholm Substation at the lower left of the frame.) The two-story white building near the base of the Seaholm tower houses a Trader Joe's (211 Walter Seaholm Dr.) and a few other businesses; and just beyond that are the Gables Park Tower and Gables Park Plaza apartments. Directly across the street from the Seaholm tower is the Gables West Avenue apartments, while the three high-rises along the upper right are the Spring Condominium, The Bowie apartment building, and The Monarch apartment building. At the lower right corner of the frame is a partial view of the 404 Rio Grande apartment building. Finally, the construction area in the foreground was once home to the Austin Energy Control Center and is now the future site of a new 58-story condo tower called The Independent, which will eventually dominate our west-facing view.
