From a 1964 article on TV lettering a set of still credit cards showing 'who it was done' and explaining the graphics and typefaces used - in this case Grot 125. The programme only ran for five episodes in 1962 and was a vehicle for the long-standing comedy duo of Jimmy Jewel and Ben Warris who had, by this date, been doing the rounds for decades. Yorkshire born Jewel went on to become known to TV audiences for his double act with Lancastrain Hylda Baker in "Nearest and Dearest" (1968).
The cards show the supporting cast from the first episode broadcast by Associated Rediffusion, the ITV franchise holder for the London area from 1955 until 1968. The designer is given as Maureen Roffey of A-R and it is unusual to be able to put a name to early TV visuals design.
Of the various names that of Steve Race (1921 - 2009) stands out, the british composer and presenter - he had been appointed "Light Music Advisor" at A-R in 1955 and went on to be best remembered for his BBC Radio programme "My Music" from 1967 to 1997.
