Almost 8 years after the official retirement of the German F4F Phantoms fleet 37+01 (first in - Last out) got the opportunity to get back on the runway of its home base for a short photo shooting.
The air frame is in immaculate condition but not airworthy.
Wittmund air base was home for two squadrons of German Phantoms for a long time. After a time of conversion the air base hosts still the Tactical Wing 71 "Richthofen" now equipped with Typhoon fighter jets.
I would like to express my gratitude to the supporting ground crews for make this unique shooting possible.
