"Obtained by the Astros from the Cardinals 6/6/81 for P Joaquin Andujar ... Was the Astros' team leader in runs last year and was 2nd on the club in stolen bases and RBI ... Became a free agent after the '81 season ... Led NL outfielders in fielding percentage in '80 when he committed just 1 error in 330 chances (.997) ... Led the Cards in stolen bases in '79 ... Had his '77 season cut short when he required surgery on his left knee ... Came up to big leagues after a big season with Denver in '76 in which he hit .311."
"CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
1980 – Emerged as the 2nd big bonus (along with Rick Langford) from the big deal that sent Phil Garner to Pittsburgh in '77. Had his finest season by far, leading A's in HR and RBI. Finished 3rd in AL in HR and 6th overall in RBI. Tied for club lead with 11 game-winning RBI.
1979 – Bothered by knee and shoulder injuries that limited him to just 80 games in which he hit .248 with 11 HR.
1977 – In 1st full major league season, hit .240 for A's with 13 HR and 53 RBI over 118 games. Traded to Oakland, March 15, with Langford and OF Mitchell Page in six-player deal that sent 2B Garner to Pittsburgh.
1971 – Signed originally as undrafted free agent by Pirates."
