At the Kurihama end of the train/ferry ride, this was the bus not taken. (It was confusing and no one would explain it. When I got onto the bus, the driver wasn't in yet, and a few passengers were sitting, so I sat. When the driver came on, I tried to pay, but he'd have none of it!
You apparently pay *after* you take the ride.
By then I'd evaluated that I had plenty of time and it was a nice (if hot) day, so I just walked from the train station to the ferry terminal.
