I am still somewhat appalled at my "party crashing" of the Happy Caturday! group. Sometimes I jump in and have no idea of what is going on . . . but needless to say, I have been totally welcomed and embraced by everyone! AND I love it; I love sharing our cats, our joys, our sorrows, because cat people always understand.
Here isCallie, one of her brothers- Nigel, and Holly, who was VERY pregnant in this shot, and all who were and are with me from when I first joined the group.
As a little history, Callie and Nigel are brother and sister (and have another brother, Ollie), who we took in after the death of a much older friend. When John got sick, he asked me to promise to give them a home, and of course we did. We love them so much.
Holly, of course, was our rescue from a truck stop in Mississippi. We usually stop at the same places to gas up on trips back and forth to our other home in New Orleans. Holly ran out to us several times we stopped; she was very thin and with dirty fur, trying to eat out of the trashcans there. It was not long before we knew we had to do something, and I drove back from New Orleans with a live trap and smelly kitty food and BAM! She was in in less than 30 seconds. She was SO hungry and scared. Of course several weeks later, she delivered 6 healthy kittens, whom we have loved so much, too! Three of them are still with us, and the other 3 are now part of cat households of family members, so we have the best of all worlds, getting to see and know ALL of Holly's kittens!
"The People," as we call our animal family here, are really such a great blend of cats, dogs, birds, and turtles. Harmony is a requirement, and that is hardly ever broken!
