This is another photograph from the many I took over the weekend of 12 & 13th October last year (2024). It is similar to another image I have posted, but this one gives a wider view and includes more of the wharf.

And in the very far distance you can see the lights of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), at Moore Park - near Paddington.

Chilled Dragonfruit Sorbet

So this is the sunset at Lavender Bay in Sydney.
No colour saturation. No AI.

Photographed from the Peter Kingston Walkway on the eastern side of Lavender Bay, just near the 'Sledgehammer' ride at Luna Park (Milsons Point).

And I recently discovered Dragonfruit. It is actually the edible fruit of a Pitaya Cactus Plant and it makes an exotic addition to a fruit salad. Check out all the different varieties here:

My two favourites are Dragonfruit 'Lemonade' and 'Colombian Red'.
Check out the pictures of them in the above link.

Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay by Stephen Marcus

Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay

Well guess who turned up to go on one of my photograhy treks? Quite unusual.

It's my younger daughter, Miss Tik Tok - lol.

She's 18. OMG. How did that happen? I am sure we were watching Disney's 'Frozen' just yesterday, and going to a fairy party on the weekend.

SO anyway this will be a rare appearance by Miss Tik Tok on my Flickr photostream because I am acidly informed by her that Flickr and Facebook are for "old people", and they are "not cool" like Instagram and Tik Tok.

This, by the way, is the Luna Park boardwalk, looking west across Lavender Bay to Barangaroo (left) and McMahons Point (right).

The End of The Line by Stephen Marcus

The End of The Line

In the foreground you can see the former North Shore railway line which now ends abruptly at Luna Park. Prior to the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932, and the construction of Luna Park in 1935, this precinct was a huge (and ugly) railway terminal where passengers would transfer to the ferries that took them across the harbour to the city. It was also a commercial port facility.

In 1932 the North Shore railway line was re-directed up onto the 'new' harbour bridge. In this historical aerial photograph from 1930 you can see where the 'end of the line' met the site that is now Luna Park:

Late afternoon on Easter Monday, 2025.

The view across Lavender Bay from the Colonnades Lookout.

In the foreground is Luna Park, whilst across Lavender Bay is McMahons Point. In the far distance, across the harbour, is the Walsh Bay Wharf Precinct & Barangaroo.

This, for me, is a newly discovered vantage point just off Alfred Street at Milsons Point (aka North Sydney), and a little way along Cliff Street.

AND, along Cliff Street is an amazing (and super cheap - for Sydney, lol) Vietnamese restaurant - Viet Earth. I returned to this after getting all my sunset harbour photographs!!

Sunset at Coney Island

Tonight in Sydney.

Friday, 14th March, 2025.

It was stupidly hot in Sydney today. You would not think it was Autumn, with temperatures at nearly 40 degrees celsius.

Anyway, after finishing work at Chatswood, I decided to drive down to the harbour. I parked the car on Lavender Street (I always find parking there!!), and walked down the sandstone steps to Lavender Bay.

Turning to the left you can skirt around Lavender Bay on the Peter Kingston Walkway, which then becomes the Luna Park Boardwalk.

This image was taken just as you approach Coney Island.

The Autumn Harbour by Stephen Marcus

The Autumn Harbour

So it's Sydney harbour, photographed from a courtyard on the corner of Harbourview Street and Lavender Street, at Lavender Bay.

Just near the Kirribilli Club and Wendy's Secret Garden.

And this photograph was taken in Autumn. My favourite season!! And, of-course, it is now Autumn in Sydney with its mercifully cooler temperatures.

And there is also the promise of winter with its glorious sunny weather and nice cold days of 21 degrees celsius. Such a magical relief from the oppression of summer.

I have used my zoom lens (the dodgy non IS one, lol) so you can zoom in to see the wharves at Walsh Bay, and all the people at Observatory Hill Park waiting to catch the sunset.

Down On The Beach by Stephen Marcus

Down On The Beach

My favourite beach on Sydney harbour.

It's Lavender Bay, lol.

After work you fly down the M2 from the Hills District, park the car along Lavender Street, and then cruise down the sandstone stairs beside Wendy's 'Secret Garden', to emerge on the harbour foreshore with its parkland, beach and wharf.

And from here you can walk around Lavender Bay to Luna Park, Coney Island & Milsons Point - AND the essential coffee at Kirribilli, lol.
