Boulevard Voltaire
Boulevard Voltaire is one of the main axes created by Baron Haussmann under Napoleon III. Originally named Boulevard du Prince Eugene, before taking the name of Boulevard Voltaire on October 25, 1870, it connects two places that are part of the history of the French politival left, the Place de la Republique and Place de la Nation . Quickly Boulevard Voltaire became the street hosting many parades of leftist political parties, trade unions or protest movements. The boulevard is lined with plane trees. This boulevard has a large concentration of video game stores on the odd sidewalk.
