As it races the setting sun, a westbound UP freight crosses Cienega Creek on its trip down the Sunset Route. Several saguaro cacti can be found along the Cienega and surrounding foothills in these parts.

The sun begins to rise over the desert landscape of Hidalgo County as an SP caboose sits with a couple MOW gondolas at Steins. Originally built to trail on freights traversing this very territory, this and other surviving bay windows have been repurposed as shoving platforms in yard or MOW service.
