Sustainably focused Interior designer, Julie Brady of Details Inc. in Sheffield Massachusetts designed the interior of this model home at Aspinwell for Case Management. The project was constructed under the guidelines for LEED certification by the United States Green Building Council. The owner desired the model to be outfitted with as many green elements in both finishes and furnishings while maintaining an affordable budget. Julie Brady utilized many local resources in selecting both the finish products as well as the furniture, accessories and artwork. The result, a fashion forward, budget friendly, gorgeously green interior.
This master bedroom contains eco-friendly furniture construction, natural fabrics consisting of wool, hemp and silk, Natural Shades by EarthShade, Low VOC paints by Sherwin Williams, and artwork by Berkshire Artist Kate Knapp and New York Artist, Joshua Bishop. The Rug is naturally dyed wool rug by Surya and is Rugmark Certified to guarantee that no child labor was involved. The organic mattress was hand made by the Amish in Pennsylvania, and the sheets are 100% organic cotton. The walls are constructed from sustainably harvested wood that is fsc certified and treated with borax to naturally repel insects. The walls were then insulated with soy based cellulose foam for optimal energy performance.
So much of what makes a building green are the things you don't see that are working to make the structure perform well and conserve energy. The green materials on the interior are about long standing performance and indoor air quality, lending to a healthy environment in which to live.
