Jabari caught my eye as he was trying to take pictures of Cash (the puppy) in the middle of State Street in downtown Madison. The light was right and I knew it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up, I introduced myself and asked if I could take a picture of the two of them for inclusion into my (608)strangers Cash seemingly looked at Jabari for approval and he agreed, we set up a quick spot while the traffic was light. Clicking off four or five frames, I was surprised at how patient Cash was with the camera. After we parted ways I couldn't help but notice the subtle detail of how the leash on Cash meshed with the liner on Jabari's coat. I may never know if it was intentional or not, but certainly hope we cross paths again.

After being cleared less then a week into March to resume regular activities brace free, I made the joyful return to cycling after not riding for 40 days following a fall at the end of January. A diagnosis complete with an MRI of my left knee showed a deep bone bruise of my tibia, slight MCL tearing (previously seen in 2023), and cartilage loss associated with osteoarthritis. I'm not getting any younger, but I'm glad it wont limit me from doing the things I love. I'm ever thankful for the crew over at @slowrollcycles for tuning this bike up last year so I had a reliable steed while my main bike was getting a little TLC over at @blacksaddlebikeshop
A simple street portrait was requested of this dapper gentleman, I liked his straw hat. He was happy to let me take one and was rather drawn to the retro styling of my Fuji. It reminded him of the cameras he grew up shooting on, we parted ways shaking hands and he gave me his name, but as of this posting it's escaping my memory.
I need to take notes so for the (608)strangers project, it's kind of embarrassing to not remember people when we cross paths again (happens often enough). I recommend checking out the 100 strangers group here on Flickr for more inspiring stranger portraits.
