This male giraffe looked so cute in this pic that it made me smile! He looks like he's being quite personable, but all he was really doing was chewing some leaves or something.
This shot was from my day at Brevard Zoo back in August. this shot is mine, though my brother got some pretty good ones, too. It has been adjusted in post processing to do some enhancelments, specifically, straightening the image, using an advanced HDR-like filter, a picture HDR filter, an Orton filter, and a dark brown haircolor tool over the pic to enhance tones, bringing up vibrance, and adjusting exposure settings. He almost does look like he's about to say something, doesn't he?!
This giraffe family was near a waterhole in Etosha Park in Namibia. Their surroundings are very sparse as you can see, Acacia trees and rocks dot the barren salt pan of the area.
I ave added the giraffe to my series animals disappearing at an alarming rate as they are very close to being added to the official endangered group.
Sorry I have been off more than on. I caught a nasty cold aboard my flight back from Africa. The plane's cabin was like a meat freezer, it was so cold. Will be adding Botswana images soon! Stay tune! It was a wildlife paradise!

Male and Female Southern Cape Giraffe. The darker giraffe is the male. You can tell my his ossicones (horns). They show skin at the tops of them indicating he has done some fighting (necking, the swinging of the necks for striking other males) and has been hitting another male with them wearing the horns down either for dominance over another male or for mating privileges. The female still retains the hair on the tops of her ossicones, because females do not do any necking.
Image taken in the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, Botswana.
My son and future daughter-in-law bought for my birthday a Giraffe Experience at Knowsley Safari Park which was out of this world, I have had a permanent smile on my face ever since. This is a photograph of one of the two giraffes that I had the experience with, so beautiful.

Kiraka is a nubile young female giraffe the zoo brought over from Australia to help with the breeding program.
While it was clear that the male giraffe, Zabulu, was in the mood, it was equally clear that Kiraka was not.
Zabulu kept coming up behind her and sniffing her bottom and then lining himself up behind her, but whenever he looked to be about to mount her, she'd walk off.
Maybe she was just playing hard to get.
This cute little guy is a new addition to the Sacramento Zoo. This young Masai giraffe has joined the three female Reticulated Giraffes. The spotting on the Masai giraffes is darker and a little more irregular than the Reticulated. Currently he stands approximately 11 feet but at maturity he will surpass the females at 16 to 19 feet in height. The zoo is in hopes of finding a Masia female to breed with young Chifu in the future.
