Something certainly has their attention but I was not aware of that at the time. I was just trying to get a shot before they noticed me. In a lush field of grass and wildflowers.

On our way to a small water ecosystem, we passed a community pond with a fountain. Found this Mama & babies out for a walk of their own. It's fun doing nature exploring with my grandson.

Baby Mallard ducks in spring, what could be finer! What made this morning even more memorable were the two kids who stood next to me with their parents. The youngsters kept telling me over and over again how much they loved these tiny fluffballs and wished they could take them home.

While the egrets & herons were hunting for crawdads, the mallard family was napping in the soft grass.

Mum kept the group well under control.
There are several duck families with babies at Cottonwood Park right now, both mallards & wood ducks. I normally see Muscovy families too but did not see any on this occasion. Love me some baby ducks.
